Strengthening Adoptive Families

OUR PARTNERS

Together with our nonprofit partners, we create programs to help adoptive families throughout North America.

The Adoption Council of Canada is Canada’s voice for adoption. Based in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, we’re the only national organization in Canada that services all members of the adoption community, including adoptees, adoptive families, and birth families. As a registered charity, we promote the adoption of children and youth from foster care, elevate youth voices to support permanency, and provide post-adoption supports to families. We also support provincial adoption organizations in their work to place children and youth from foster and group care.

The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) is the national leader in mental health services for the foster care and adoption community nationwide, nurturing, inspiring and empowering families to grow and thrive. C.A.S.E. is proud to partner with Jockey Being Family to provide educational resources for thousands of new adoptive families each year though the Jockey Being Family Backpack Program. C.A.S.E. is also proud to partner with Jockey Being Family, Jockey International and the University of Wisconsin to build the capacity of mental health therapists across Wisconsin with the opening of the new Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) site, thereby expanding access to highly trained, adoption competent therapists for local families.

Jockey Being Family is a key partner in CCAI’s mission to bring adoption and foster care awareness to Capitol Hill. Each of our programs aim to bring voices of experience and expertise to Members of Congress so they can improve laws and policies, and Jockey Being Family’s investment in and sponsorship of CCAI’s Foster Youth Interns helps our foster care alumni make a lasting impact on our congressional leaders and child welfare policy reform across the entire nation.

The Coalition is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization that works to inspire, inform, and support individuals and families caring for children touched by foster care and adoption. Their programs and services encourage resilience for all family members to create and maintain healthy and stable environments where children and youth can grow and thrive. Jockey partners with the Coalition through the Home to Stay® backpack program, designed to provide newly adopted children in Wisconsin with personalized backpacks. Jockey employees gather each month to create the backpacks, which are delivered by staff Resource Specialists. To date, Jockey Being Family has provided over 7,500 children in Wisconsin with personalized backpacks, touching over 2,500 adoptive families.

Jockey Being Family understands the need to support families in the long-term, helping them be together and strong forever. At Creating a Family, we believe that adoptive parents need meaningful education and support to help manage things like identity, belonging, the lingering effects of abuse, neglect, and prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol, and so much more. We exist solely to offer hope, solutions, unbiased education and support for adoptive families. Partnering with Jockey Being Family allows us to do this, amplifying our message and getting our resources to the families that need them. We are so grateful!

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® is a nationally recognized nonprofit public charity focused on dramatically increasing the adoptions of children from North America’s foster care systems, raising awareness and creating a national conversation of foster care adoption. JBF funded the creation and distribution of “A Step-by-Step Guide to Post-Adoption” for the Foundation and assisted with the critical materials for pediatricians serving adopted children.

NACAC is a nationally recognized leader in post-adoption services and supports a network of parent support groups across the US and in Canada. Jockey Being Family provides funding to allow adoption support group leaders to attend parent leadership trainings, including at the NACAC annual conference. Jockey Being Family has supported direct training for hundreds of adoptive parent leaders, and enables NACAC to provide targeted training and consultation to dozens of adoption groups every year. JBF also supports NACAC’s work to train leaders, provide consultation, and otherwise help communities develop support and advocacy networks for young adults who have experienced foster care or adoption. Through NACAC’s Community Champions Network, funded by Jockey, parent and youth leaders have also developed new post-adoption support services, leveraged funding for sustainability, and educated decision makers to better meet the needs of both adopted and waiting children.
